Charalampos N. (Babis) Pitas is HellenicĀ Engineer with R&D, engineering and lecturing experience with utilities, telecommunications, academia, and military sectors since 2003. His interests are focused on emerging engineering and economics challenges of Smart Grid and wireless-mobile communication networks.

In 2011, he joined as an Electrical Engineer the Transmission New Projects Department at Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO SA), Athens, Greece. From 2005 to 2012, he was a Research Engineer & Fellow at Mobile Radio Communications Laboratory of National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, Greece, involving in numerous industrial and research projects. From 2008 to 2010, he was an Adjunct Lecturer of Information Technology lessons at Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands, Lefkada, Greece. From 2005 to 2008, he was a Radio Access Network Optimization Engineer (ext. partner) at the Department of Access & Transmission Network, COSMOTE Mobile Telecommunications SA, Athens, Greece. From 2003 to 2005, he served his obligatory military services as a Reserve Officer at Research and Informatics Corps of the Hellenic Army, Greece.

C.N. Babis Pitas is an alumnus of the NTUA with Diploma, MBA, MSc and PhD degrees. He has also attendedĀ numerous postgraduate courses and seminars in Information Technology, Negotiations, Project Management and Enterprise Risk Management.

He is a Chartered/Registered Engineer (CEng) of the Technical Chamber of Greece, and a Member of the IEEE (PES and COMSOC) and CIGRE. He has published his research work in international and panhellenic conference proceedings as well as in journals and magazines. He also serves as Technical Program Committee (TPC) Member and Reviewer for int’l conferences and journals.
